The Posse Foundation
X Winery introduced a special bottling of their popular “Red X” and “White X” blends to support the Posse Foundation and its efforts.Programs like Posse allow for the next generation of scholars to develop into tomorrow’s leaders. All profits from the sales of this special bottling will be donated to the Foundation.
The acclaimed organization was founded with the idea that certain high school students may be overlooked by the traditional college selection process despite demonstrating excellent academic and leadership potential.
These students are nominated their senior year of high school by teachers, advisors, and or community leaders to be selected into the program. Once selected, these young leaders are placed in multicultural teams of 10 students—or “Posses”—and act as a support system and as catalysts of change once on campus. From January to August of their senior year in high school, the Posse meets weekly for two-hour workshops that develop skills needed to succeed in a university setting. These include: team building and group support, cross cultural communication, leadership, and academic excellence. Posse staff provides follow up visits four times per year while the students attend college.
Posse recently received even more accolades, this time from President Obama. Posse received a generous $125,000 from the President as one of only 10 organizations to receive donations from his Nobel Prize money.
